As part of prisoner development, arrangements have been made to provide khichuri two days a week, halwa roti one day and vegetable roti four days a week instead of bread and jaggery for breakfast.
Allocation of Tk 26 (Twenty six) per head per day instead of chira and jaggery has been provided to the learned court going prisoners for lunch.
In line with the daily needs, the allocation for providing quality food to jail inmates on special days/festivals has been increased from Tk.30/- (thirty) to Tk.150/- (one hundred and fifty).
The monthly wages of inmate cleaners have been fixed from Tk 20/- (Twenty) to Tk 500/- (Five Hundred).
The remuneration of the religious counselors engaged for imparting religious education to the prisoners has been increased from Rs.50/- (Fifty) to Rs.200/- (Two Hundred).
Allocation per person for Iftar for prisoners during the holy month of Ramadan has been increased from Tk 15/- (fifteen) to Tk 30/- (thirty).
The food allowance per prisoner has been increased from Rs.16/- (Sixteen) to Rs.
150/- (one hundred and fifty) rupees per head has been allocated for serving good quality food to the prisoners on the occasion of celebrating the holy Eid-e Miladunnabi (PBUH) 2022.
Proactive steps have been taken to prevent drugs from entering prisons in the country. Inmates are kept in separate wards and given local treatment. With the help of Narcotics Control Department, anti-narcotics public awareness activities have been continued by organizing anti-narcotics exchange meetings and providing special awareness about the physical and mental harms of taking drugs to prisoners.
